LONDON – The world’s tallest living person met the smallest man ever for Guinness World Record Day.
Giant Sultan Kösen, who is 8ft 3in, shook hands with Chandra Dangi, who measures just 21.5ins, as they posed for pictures outside the London Houses of Parilament to mark the books 600th anniversary.
Part-time farmer Sultan , from Ankara, Turkey, became the world’s tallest living person in 2009, when he took the title from 63-year-old Xi Shun who measured 7ft 8.9ins.
While 75-year-old Chandra, who lives in remote Nepalese village, is the shortest known human to have ever lived.
“It has been a real privilege to have taken part in Guinness World Records Day 2014. I love London and to be able to finally meet Chandra after all this time is amazing,” said Sultan.
“Even though he is short and I am tall, we have had similar struggles throughout our lives and when I look into Chandra’s eyes, I can see he’s a good man.”
Chandra was also honoured to be part of the special occasion.
He said: “It’s been a lifelong dream to travel and becoming a Guinness World Records title holder has enabled me to do that.
