LAHORE – The Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made it clear that in fact there were no clear chances of Saeed Ajmal to play upcoming global event of cricket World Cup 2015.
Sheharyar Khan was speaking to media outside his office in Lahore on Thursday after the sweeping victory of Pakistan against New Zealand in first test match.
He said “Saeed Ajmal is in UK for the bio-mechanic tests. However, we have to be honest that there are no clear chances of him to be available for World Cup 2015. It is only a fifty-fifty chance.”
Later, at least one television channel of Pakistan have cited some reports claiming that Saeed Ajmal’s bowling action was still above 20 degree.
However, Saeed Ajmal’s name is already included in the expected 30 member squad out of whom World Cup 2015 team of Pakistan will be selected.
PCB chairman also maintained that with Najam Sethi presiding the International Cricket Council (ICC), Pakistan will get the maximum benefit. “His appointment will benefit Pakistan in many ways,” he added.
Commenting on the issue of Mohammad Amir he said “Mohammad Amir’s arrival on grounds will be another positive omen for Pakistan. He had accepted his mistake and completed all requisites of his come-back. All others who wish to make a come-back must accept their mistake, tender an unconditional apology that their action had caused disgraced not only to Pakistan but to fellow cricketers as well.”
He also revealed that Kenya, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Scotland have agreed to send their national teams in Pakistan.
