ISLAMABAD – The fatal ailment of Breast Cancer is on rise in Pakistan as most of the ladies yet unaware of the initial symptoms and only come for treatment during the third or fourth stage of disease.
The views were being expressed by the consultant radiologist Zainab Mahmood at a seminar about Breast Cancer.
Zainab informed the audience about symptoms, precautions and treatment of breast cancer. She also spoke about the importance of mammography in breast cancer. “The dilemma is that 60-70 percent patients come to the hospital when the disease is in the third or fourth stage… at that stage treatment does not give good results,” she told the participants of the seminar.
She also talked about early diagnosis, precautionary measures and tests required for detecting breast cancer.
Another medical expert, Misbah Masood informed the audience that South Asia has the most number of breast cancer patients in the world. Misbah stressed the need for regular checkups.
Seminar on breast cancer was attended by a large number of women doctors, nurses, medical staff and patients. It was arranged by the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Oncology (INMOL).
