NEW YORK – It’s rare you get something for nothing.
But, Microsoft have just announced that the company’s Office Suite for mobile won’t cost you a penny.
Until now users have had to subscribe to Microsoft’s Office 365 service to gain access to certain features.
But now you’ll be able to create and edit documents without spending a penny.
The Office Suit is available across all platforms including Apple, Android and Windows phone.
However, some of the more advanced functions will still sit behind a paywall.
John Case – Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Office said: “Today we’re taking the next major step to bring Office to everyone, and I’m excited to announce that Office apps customers love are coming to Android tablets with the start of our Office for Android tablet Preview.
“We’re also delivering Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps for iPhone and updates for the iPad apps–to ensure a consistently beautiful and productive Office experience on every device.
“Starting today, people can create and edit Office content on iPhones, iPads, and soon, Android tablets using Office apps without an Office 365 subscription.”
So if you fancy producing a spreadsheet on your mobile you can get the apps at office.microsoft.com.
