Who is Lt. General Rizwan Akhtar – New ISI Chief

ISLAMABAD – Lt. General Rizwan Akhtar joins Pakistan Army in 1982 as deputed to Frontier Force (FF) regiment as sub lieutenant after completion of basic military training.

Lt. Gen. Rizwan Akhtar is graduate of Command and Staff College Quetta and War College United States.

Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency, ISI’s new chief played vital role to maintain peace in the country’s largest city Karachi as Director General (DG) Sindh Rangers.

The ISI’s 21st chief had lead the Army brigade in tribal area of Pakistan.

One of the most powerful men in Pakistan, Lt General Rizwan Akhtar inherits a highly disciplined and powerful organisation with staff and informers deployed throughout the country’s big cities and small towns.

With the reputation for being cool under pressure, General Akhtar will face, Taliban, Baloch insurgents and sectarian outfits involved in targeted killings.
