NEW YORK – Samsung certainly aren’t new to smartwatches.
Since the launch of the Galaxy Gear last September, they’ve produced a mass of tech timepieces.
But there’s a new device on the horizon and it’s perhaps the Korean company’s best yet.
The Gear S goes on sale this Friday and includes plenty of new and innovative features to get Samsung fans excited.
It lands on your wrist with a stunning 2-inch Super AMOLED display, 4GB of memory and a Dual core 1.0 GHz processor.
And as well as bringing you all your emails, texts and tweets, the device can monitor your health and activity levels.
It’s also waterproof and Samsung say it’ll keep going for over two days before needing a battery refill.
But perhaps the biggest advancement with the Gear S is the inclusion of its own mobile sim card.
This allows the watch to work independently without the need for a smartphone.
Having had our hands on the Gear S, we can report that it looks and feels great.
The device is big on your wrist, but the giant screen makes it very simple and intuitive to use.
So it seems there’s only one problem with the Gear S and that’s its price.
The watch will set you back a pricey £329, but to get the most out of it you’ll also need a monthly sim plan.
Smartwatches are gaining popularity, but there’s still a long way to go until they are commonplace on our wrists.
And the premium price of the Gear S may end up putting some tech fans off.
