NBP to install satellite system to upgrade banking services | PakistanTribe.comKARACHI – National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has introduced a cutting-edge core banking system in the country for improving its services though will be monitored and controlled under satellite system.

The bank will equip IBM Power 8 servers in the head office that will connect its branches and ATMs through head office that will update the management about the performance and efficiency of its banking channels.

SEVEP NBP Zubair Ahmed has signed an agreement on Wednesday with Aziz Ahmed General Manager GBM Pakistan, which is a subsidiary of Gulf business machines in UAE and sole distributor of IBM Pakistan that was being represented by Erum Azhar.

NBP Information Technology Division Representative Imran Jafri expressed that NBP already has a customer base of 1.5 million customers running its core banking system. The new IBM servers shall enable more than 5 million customers as the capacity of this system is more than 6 thousand account opening per day.

The new system will upgrade the core banking system by multiple fold as it will connect NBP 1200 branches nationwide on IBM series servers.
