SRINAGAR – Chairman All parties Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani has appealed to the world community to impress upon India to grant the people of Jammu and Kashmir their inalienable right to self-determination.
Syed Ali Gieeani addressing an extraordinary meeting of his party, Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir, at its head office in Srinagar, today, said that the Kashmiris were offering sacrifices for their just cause and Indian military might policies could not weaken their determination for freedom. He said that recent mammoth rallies in Sopore, Kupwara, Pulwama and Kulgam areas were meant to realize the world community the urgency of the need to resolve the Kashmir dispute.
Meanwhile addressing a massive public rally in Kulgam Syed Ali Geelani called the BJP’s Prime-Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as “killer of humanity.” He also said that Modi’s candidature is “in total contrast to India’s claim of being a democratic and a secular country.”
Geelani said: “Modi is the person responsible for the massacre of Muslims in Gujarat in 2002. He is responsible for the gross human rights violations and barbaric victimization of Muslims there.”
Geelani said “Modi’s hands are soaked in the blood of innocent Muslims of Gujarat.” Reiterating his election boycott call in J&K, Geelani said some people join mainstream political parties and urge people to participate in polls. “They are acting as collaborators in inflicting oppression and suppression on Kashmiris. The mainstream parties like Congress, NC, PDP and others are equally responsible for the victimization of Kashmiris. Those who will vote would be the brokers of sacrifices offered by martyrs of J&K,” the Hurriyat (G) chairman said.
He said it is the mainstream parties in Jammu and Kashmir “that bartered state’s natural resources especially water.” “That is why the people of Kashmir have been pushed into perpetual darkness. Our water resources are being used to generate electricity and the same is being sold to different states while the people of Kashmir have been left to bear the brunt,” Geelani said.
He said people of Kashmir will not accept any solution of Kashmir dispute other than independence. “The majority here want resolution of Kashmir issue in accordance with their political aspirations,” he said.
Geelani also reassured the non-Muslims that Kashmiri Muslims are not communal. “Let me assure my non Muslim brethren that after we get independence, their lives and properties will remain safe and secure. I appeal them to support the Kashmir’s freedom movement and I assure them that their rights would be safeguarded after independence. Further, we will foil every attempt which is aimed to divide Kashmir on regional, religious or cultural basis,” Geelani said.
The Hurriyat (G) chairman stressed that people won’t allow any compromise or alteration in the geographical boundaries of Jammu and Kashmir that existed on August 15, 1947.
Referring to four point formula proposed by the Pakistan’s former president Pervez Musharaf, Geelani said no roadmaps including Autonomy, Self Rule, Status Quo mooted by the political mainstream in Kashmir would be accepted.
“My rallies are aimed to make the international community aware that India is continuing its control in Jammu and Kashmir forcibly. It is also to make clear to the world that Kashmir is not an integral part of India but a disputed territory.”
Geelani said: “Everything including medicine is being imported into Kashmir. Sub-standard drugs are being sent to Kashmir deliberately to make Kashmirs suffer health-wise.”
He said these medicines are no less than poison. “This is being done to make our younger generation sick,” Geelani alleged.
Geelani was accompanied by Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Ayaz Akbar, advocate Muhammad Shafi Reshi, Pir Saifulla, Raja Mehraj-u-Din, Altaf Amad Shah and Muhammad Shaban Dar.
