Following the need assessment of the affected areas to determine the unmet needs of the victims, the relief goods will be provided by Telenor Pakistan’s emergency response partner, Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) to over 320 flood affected families.
The contribution will be utilized by PRCS to provide over 2,200 individuals with nonfood items including tents, blankets, tarpaulin sheets, Kitchen set, lamp hurricane, stove, jerry can, hygiene kit, shelter toolkit, CGI sheets and mosquito nets. Moreover, under Telenor Pakistan’s employee volunteerism initiativeTelenor Hum Qadam, volunteers will assist PRCS during distribution whereas the employees will also continue with their tradition of personally donating to the cause.
Expressing his solidarity with the flood victims, Muhammad Aslam Hayat, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Telenor Pakistan said, “In this hour of need, where thousands of families have been affected by devastating floods, Telenor Pakistan stands by its brethren. Besides contribution of funds, we have also made sure that mobile recharge and easypaisa services remain available and our technical team is working hard to ensure that our network continues to provide seamless connectivity to the affected areas. We hope that our humble efforts will help those who need it most.”
Besides provision of timely flood related information to the victims via approximately 20 million SMS during recent floods, Telenor Pakistan also donated handsets, SIMs and top ups to the Disaster Management Program Punjab to facilitate timely on-ground communication.
