Pakistan Journalist Faizullah Released from Afghanistan Prison | PakistanTribe.comPESHAWAR/KABUL – Arrested Pakistani journalist Faizullah Khan has been released from the Jalalabad prison in Afghanistan, PakistanTribe.com reported on Sunday.

I’ve been informed over phone that Faizullah has been released in Afghanistan, Geo TV quoted the wife of Faizullah Khan who herself is a former journalist.

Sources close to the development claimed that Faizullah is in Nangarhar area of Jalalabad and soon he will left Afghanistan for Pakistan.

Pakistani and International journalists’ bodies had shown serious concern over the arrest of Faizullah.

Sources terms the recent development in the case the result of Pak-Afghan diplomatic efforts.

Khan, a reporter for the Karachi-based privately owned news channel ARY News, was arrested around April 22 in Nangahar province and convicted this month of entering Afghanistan without proper travel documents.

He had originally been charged of spying–apparently because he had been in contact with some Taliban groups as part of his work as a journalist–but those charges were soon dropped as police carried out their investigation.
