ISLAMABAD – According to a Gallup Pakistan National Survey conducted in the year 1988 (26 years ago), 25% Pakistanis considered Inflation the biggest problem of Pakistan; in 2014, 41% Pakistanis think the same.
This press release has been made as part of the Gallup Pakistan History Project which aims to release historical empirical polling data to wider audiences. The objective is to sustain and encourage empirical decision making in Pakistan.
Twenty-six years ago, a nationally representative sample of men and women, from across the four provinces was asked “In your opinion, which one is the biggest problem of Pakistan?” Responding to this question, 25% respondents said Inflation was the biggest problem of Pakistan, 22% named Unemployment, 17% mentioned Law and Order situation/Terrorism, and 3% were worried about Foreign Aggression. 29% respondents gave other responses and 4% did not respond.
