Former bureaucrat reveals ‘rigging’ in Pakistan’s general elections | PakistanTribe.comISLAMABAD – Former Additional Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Afzal Khan has said that former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has appointed returning officers (ROs) for the election duties.

In his televised conversation with ARY, a private news channel in Pakistan, former bureaucrat reveals that there was massive corruption and rigging in the 2013 general elections.

He alleges that the Chief Justice interfered in the process of free and fair elections to result in the present regime illegitimate rule.

“Instead of Election Commission of Pakistan, former CJ appoints all ROs for general elections” he said while talking to the channel.

Imran Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf with his party workers are demonstrating sit-in in federal capital city Islamabad where he is demanding the resignation of current Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over elections rigging.

“There was an organized rigging in 2013 general elections,” he said “then Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim didn’t take any notice over violations.”

It was a doubt but now it’s clear that there were more than 35 punctures during May 2013 elections, said former additional secretary of ECP.
