According to them that time is not so far now when the war on Islam intensifies, and as the day approaches when the Euro-Jewish State of Israel would be in power, and the false Messiah ( dajjal) would rule the world from Jerusalem and declare that he is the true Messiah.
Postmodernism, the most important trend which is shaping world today, is rising the spiritual emptiness and collapse caused by the modern age and no doubt creating chaos and disorder in the world. All the countries of the world are under the influence of this disorder. Some consider it a System of Dajjal. This can be a period of time which is paving the way for Dajjal but those who consider Dajjal a system are wrong because Dajjal is a person who is chained.Tamim Dari saw him and spoke to him. Allah’s Messenger (SallAllah-u-Alaihi-wa-Sallam) said: and this account narrated by Tamim Dari was liked by me for it corroborates the account which I gave to you in regard to him (Dajjal) at Medina and Mecca. Behold he (Dajjal) is in the Syrian sea (Mediterranean) or the Yemen sea (Arabian Sea). Nay, on the contrary, he is in the east, he is in the east, he is in the east, and he pointed with his hand towards the east. [Sahih Muslim: Book 041, Number 7028]
Prophet Muhammad predicted the last time with the emergence of the mighty tribes of Ya’juj and Ma’juj (gog and Magog) and the battle of Armageddon will take place when Saudi Arabia today will be corrupted. Narrated Mu’adh ibn Jabal: “The Prophet (PBUH) said: The flourishing state of Jerusalem will be when Yathrib is in ruins, the ruined state of Yathrib will be when the great war comes, the outbreak of the great war (i.e., the battle of Armageddon) will be at the conquest of Constantinople and the conquest of Constantinople when the Dajjal (Antichrist) comes forth. He (the Prophet) struck his thigh or his shoulder with his hand and said: This is as true as you are here or as you are sitting (meaning Mu’adh ibn Jabal).” (Translation of Sunan Abu-Dawud, Battles (Kitab Al-Malahim), Book 37, Number 4281)
The exact time is not known to anyone. There are different predictions. Many changes will have to occur. It is Only Allah who knows the exact time. But that time will be very difficult for the believers. In the last verse of Surah al-kahf, there is a parting advice and a warning to those believers who long to meet with Allah with hope for His mercy and blessings. They must be righteous in their conduct and must avoid committing Shirk which is very difficult to avoid in the age of Dajjal. Dajjal would try his best to destroy their faith. It would be very difficult to recognize the attack of shirk. ‘as difficult”, said the prophet Muhammad,” as it would be to recognize a black ant on a black stone at a dark night.”
The shirk of the modern secular State, for example, that claims sovereignty, etc, is now universal. It has embraced almost all of mankind. This is the ‘sovereignty’ higher than that of Allah’s, or beside Allah’s, or ‘supreme authority’ or ‘law ‘ higher than Allah’s etc.
Islam says “all sovereignty rests in Allah” and any ruler that rules the Ummah rules as “vice-regent of Allah”. The Ummah can elect the vice-regent but neither the vice-regent nor the Ummah has right to make laws to govern themselves. The laws have already been ‘revealed’ in the holy Quran. Only the Ulema can interpret them and the Ummah follow what the Ulema interpret.
Islam refuses the Democracy of West which promotes nihilism and a Muslim who believes the sovereignty of Allah can never accept these socio-political ideologies. The Democracy of West claims the sovereignty of people. In such democratic countries the riots, genocides and other cruelties are very common. Though we don’t see the practical proofs of our Islamic constitution fully yet but the policy of Islam which the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave is without any fault.
In ‘The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam’, Allama Iqbal was convinced of the indispensability of the establishment of “Islamic spiritual democracy” for Muslims and that Islamic society could not be established without an Islamic State, which he considered as “the sixth pillar of Islam”. Moulana Abul a’la Maududi who is founder of Jama’te Islami, has explained the framework of Islamic state by agreeing with democracy’s principle: government by the people. According to him, it is against the western concept of people’s sovereignty. The western philosophy of democracy gives people the right to legislate and regulate their lives as they want. But in ‘Islamic democracy’, the legislature, the executive and the judiciary are by the Shariah and can never go against it. In his book “Political theory of Islam”, Maulana used the term “Theo- democracy” for Islamic state. He accepted the democracy while this system will work under the sovereignty of Allah.
Allama Iqbal and Moulana Maududi narrated the flexibility of Islam. According to Iqbal, the democratic system gives the individual a maximum of freedom and a fair play to his potentialities and capabilities. Democratic rule has its impact on scientific thought also. As Iqbal says, “The growing spirit of individualism in politics is not without its influence on contemporary scientific thought. Modern thought regards the universe a democracy of living atoms.” The form of government is a very important factor of human destiny and life. It was Islam that gave the lesson of equality of rights and practiced it, included the concept of a republic among its basic teachings, taught that government should be run by a Council.
Democracy and freedom of choice is at the root of Islam. Those who condemn democracy do not know the spirit of Islam. They just want their own dictatorship. Allah has given every human being to live his life with free will and be responsible for actions only to Allah and not to any dictator. So democracy is very much in accordance with Islam because it makes the ruler responsible to the people. And if the ruler does not serve the people well they can get rid of him/her through the peaceful process of voting rather than through bloodshed. Need is to uproot the corruption from the system especially elections not to uproot Islamic democracy.
Sometimes democracy is also used to camouflage the same old king-ship and despotism. It is subservient to the perpetuation of same old system by sugar-coating it. Even when lqbal was disillusioned at this outer garb of democracy, he was forced to reject it in so far as it retained the racial and status preferences.
I’m also not talking about that democracy which is being practised in Arundhati Roy’s country by Indian Government and which is called Western liberal democracy by her. When she talks about democracy, question arises: ‘What happens once democracy has been used up? When it has been hollowed out and emptied of meaning? Roy has recently described Narendra Modi’s nomination for the prime ministerial candidate as a “tragedy”. She further said that the business houses are also supporting his candidature because he is the “most militaristic and aggressive” candidate. Race pride at its highest has been manifested here. Narendra Modi’s government planned and executed the Gujarat genocide. And after the genocide, he was returned to power with an overwhelming majority. This is democracy!!!
Her essays examine the dark side of democracy in contemporary India. It looks closely at how religious majoritarianism, cultural nationalism, and neo-fascism simmer just under the surface of a country that projects itself as the world’s largest democracy. About these democrats Roy writes in her ‘listening to grasshoppers’, “The Parivar has an appropriate head for every occasion….Finally, this many headed extravaganza has a lizard’s tail which drops off when it’s in trouble and grows back again.”
Democracy: Who’s She When She’s At Home? pg. 09.
The term “a lizard’s tail” used by her is very appropriate for these democrats. Writer and activist Arundhati Roy, is undoubtedly India’s iconoclast no.1.Though i love that passion with which Roy loves humanity and writes so boldly. But in Hinduism and western liberal democracy, the individual is the most important factor. Each individual is urged to search the truth for himself. Power resides in the people. Sovereignty and Control is in the hands of the people. In Pakistan, we are not following Democracy in its purest form. Sovereignty belongs to Allah according to the constitution of Pakistan. “The foremost condition for the growth of democracy is acceptance by all the sovereignty of the people” and this very basic requirement of democracy is quite contrary to the basic ideology of Islam. As per the Islamic and Quranic teachings the ultimate and absolute sovereignty is vested in Allah.
Islam takes care of entire development of human beings .Islam believes in freedom and equality and very flexible in its nature. There is a strong sentiment in a particular community against democracy and a will to bring back the khilafat as was done by Hazrat Umar (RA). According to them, the real change can only occur when the current democratic capitalist system is uprooted and replaced with the system of Khilafat-e-Rashidah where Allah’s Shari’ah is the law of the land.It is also clear accoding to ahadis that there will be a time when khilafat will replace other systems and one khalifa will lead whom all Muslims will follow. keeping in view all these factors, the dream of the establishment of shariah/ khilafat has risen esp in Pakistan.
Khilafat State sounds good, but who should be the Khalifa? Is it that khilafat for which TTP is creating chaos in the country; in reality these are those people who much resemble to KHAWARJIS? Or is it that khilafat for which Naveed Butt ( Hizbul Tehrir) sighs for or Moulana Abdul Aziz( Lal Masjid) dreams of. Is such khilafat and khalifas are the solution of this downfall?
All four caliphs were elected in different ways. What is the “Islamic” way to elect then? Which one is the real “system of caliphate”? Moreover, who is capable to be Caliph?
Allah has promised succession with conditions “those among you who believe, and do righteous good deeds”.”Allâh has promised those among you who believe, and do righteous good deeds, that He will certainly grant them succession to (the present rulers) in the land, as He granted it to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practice their religion, which He has chosen for them (i.e. Islâm). And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear (provided) they (believers) worship Me and do not associate anything (in worship) with Me. But whoever disbelieves after this, they are the Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh).” [Surah An-Noor 24:55]
Now the thing which is in need is to decide the right path according to shariah, and elect the leaders with awareness and uproot the corruption The traitor rulers in Pakistan and other Islamic countries are allying with the infidels, as if this is the source of strength and well-being for the Muslims. In reality, their alliance with the infidels is a source of despair, fragility, downfall and humiliation. Allah said, “The tale of those who seek allies other than Allah is that of a spider who builds a house; but indeed, the weakest of houses is the spider’s house – if they but knew.” (Surah al-Ankaboot 29:41).
It would be difficult to overcome the current situation without the awareness, understanding and uprooting the corruption. Need is to make strong to this country and ummah and not to fight for useless things. Allah knows his plans better. The heat of the battle gives notice of complete victory. The heavens will break their silence.
In the words of Faiz ahmad faiz( with a hope of good change)
Nahi nigah mein manzil to justaju hi sahi
Nahi wisaal mayassar to arzu hi sahi
I translated it so,
If destination is hindered, then struggling must take its place
If reunion is impossible, then longing must take its place.
