KARACHI/LONDON – Leader of his own fraction of fraction Afaq Ahmed, the opponent number one of Muthidda Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s supremo, has arrived in London which believed to be a strong message for some.
According to the preliminary reports, the Muhajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H)’s leaders Afaq Ahmed and Raza Hussain had arrived in London on Saturday.
Its pertinent to mention here that only a day before Altaf Hussain’s arrest in London, on June 2, by Scotland Yard, Afaq Ahmed admitted to hospital due to a cardiac attacka. It was believed that on the same Afaq was scheduled to fly to London which was cancelled.
Arrested in 2004, Ahmed was booked in over a dozen criminal cases, including murder and kidnapping for ransom.
He and his party denied charges and always alleged that the cases were instituted at the behest of the MQM that is in power both at the centre and in Sindh since 2002.
Since then, police and Rangers have made elaborate arrangements for the security of the MQM-Haqiqi leader who now travels in a police armoured personnel carrier (APC) from one place to another.
In 2011, Afaq AHmed moved to DHA, the party leaders said, has nothing to do with shifting of the party headquarters from the city’s eastern district to the southern one.
