ISLAMABAD/LAHORE – The lawmaker of Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) was specifically targeted in her car as she still fights for the life on hospital bed, MQM leader claimed.
According to leader of MQM Khalid Maqbool, the targeted Member of National Assembly was specifically targeted in Lahore to give a warning to their party leadership.
He said “She was travelling with her daughter when assailants stopped them and inquired who is Tahira Asif (targeted MNA of MQM). She replied and upon this they told her for what they came. They never took away any jewelry.”
He also maintained that “Tahira Asif told the assailants to ‘go ahead’ when one of them said ‘we came to kill you’.”
Tahira Asif was shifted to Shaikh Zayed Hospital in a critical condition after unidentified gunmen opened fire on her when she was on her way to Islamabad.
Police said Tahira Asif along with his daughter and driver was purchasing fruits near her house when the motorcyclists attempted to loot her. On her resistance, they opened fire at her. She was shifted to the Sheikh Zayed Hospital.
Her daughter and driver remained unhurt.
