Day of mourning by MQM, inquiry by Shahbaz Sharif over Lahore Violence


ISLAMABAD/LAHORE – Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) has announced day of mourning in solidarity with Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) whereas Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has ordered judicial inquiry of killing of at least seven workers.

According to the correspondent reports,

MQM has announced to observe countrywide day of mourning tomorrow (Wednesday) to mourn the killings of workers during clash with police in Lahore. Simultaneously, taking the notice of incident, Shahbaz Sharif has ordered a judicial inquiry.

Opposition parties also staged a walkout from the National Assembly against police assault on PAT workers. MQM leader Farooq Sattar, while speaking to media outside NA, said it had become evident that who was the enemy of democracy. He said suppressing people with force was an inhumane act.

At least seven people including two women have been killed in clash with police in Lahore outside the residence of Tahir-ul-Qadri.
