Alleged Gang War Guru shot dead in Lyari Town of Karachi

KARACHI – The metropolis police has encountered an alleged gang war guru of Lyari, Ghaffar Niazi, in a raid to clear the area from miscreants.

Police sources have confirmed that Ghaffar Niazi was encountered in Mossa Lane of Lyari Town on Moday during a raid.

Karachi police has always considered Niazi a key figure in the gang war, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Abdul Khaliq Shaikh said.

Ghaffar was killed when police conducted an operation in Moosa Lane following a tip-off on the whereabouts of suspects in the area. An exchange of fire occurred between the suspects and police which resulted in Ghaffar’s death. A huge cache of arms and ammunition, a number of walky-talky sets and hand grenades were recovered from Ghaffar’s posession.

The deceased was said to be involved in several criminal acts, including murder and abduction. He was also the cousin of Ayaz Niazi alias Bhoora who was killed last year in October.
