Pakistani Trends: What Pakistani think about Pak-US relations after demise of Hakimullah Mehsud

ISLAMABAD – Hakimullah Mehsud’s demise in U.S. drone attack last month (October) is considered is big blow for Pakistan-U.S. relation in Islamabad, recent survey reveals on Friday, PakistanTribe.com reported.

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, majority of Pakistanis (45%) believe that Pak-US relations will worsen after Hakimullah Mehsud’s demise.

A nationally representative sample of men and women, from across the four provinces was asked “Some people are of the opinion that after the incident Pakistan America relations will worsen while some say that there will be no change in the relations between the two countries. What is your opinion on this?” Responding to this, 45% believe that the relations between the two countries will worsen while 10% deemed them to improve. 43% said the relations will not change while 2% did not respond

The study was released by Gilani Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2533 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during November 10, 2013 – Nov 16, 2013. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
