ISLAMABAD – Chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan, who has been a staunch supporter of peace through dialogues in tribal areas, maintains that a military offensive in North Waziristan would unite all militants once again.
Imran Khan criticized the military offensive and called it a suicide as it would also displaced millions of people.
Khan said that there are several factions of extremists in North Waziristan, which are agreed upon talks, but a military offensive will serve as a reason to unite them all together.
He said that the groups which detached from Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and are ready for talks, will again opt for fight against Pakistan.
The PTI Chairman mentioned that military operation will prove to be nothing but a suicide attempt, while it can also cause displacement of 7 million people.
He demanded the political leadership to reject US pressure on the issue and urged the Government to pursue peace talks, in the light of the decisions made at the all parties’ conference (APC).
Its pertinent to mention here on May 24, Imran Khan maintained that in North Waziristan airstrikes women and children have died.
