Karachi: First Information Report of Karachi Airport Terrorist attack was lodged on Wednesday 11 June, at the Aiport Police Station against Tehreek-e-Taliban Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Supreme Commander Mullah Fazalullah, spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid and 10 suicide attackers. Whereas; Karachi Police has formed a committee to probe into the case.
The case number 87/14 has been lodged on the complaint of Additional Director Airport Security Force and Commander of Baber Company Muhammad Iqbal Khan under section 302, 324, 427, 353, 435, 434, 109/34, Anti Terrorism Act section 7-A.T.A and section 3/4 of the Explosive Act.
Karachi Police Chief, Ghulam Qadir Thebo formulated an inquiry committee led by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Karachi East, Munir Ahmed Shaikh. Committee also included Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East Zone, SSP Malir, Special Investigation Unit (SIU), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) airport and Station House Officer (SHO) airport to probe into the incident.
According to the F.I.R Commander Iqbal stated that he was present at the Control Station on the night of the incident and upon hearing gun shot at 11:15 P.M he came out to inquire and saw that five (5) armed terrorist wearing ASF resembling uniforms have entered the gate martyring duty officer on the gate ASI M. Iqbal. Upon watching this Commander Iqbal did only alarmed the duty staff and officer but also informed the Airport Security In-charge before calling for back up from the nearby ASF camp.
Meanwhile, five other terrorist attacked the Shaheen Cargo gate and opened fire on Sub Inspector Hafeez ur Rehman martyring him on the spot. One terrorist was also killed on the gate in return fire from ASF personnel. However, terrorist succeeded in reaching the cargo shed and set it on fire. Duty Officer Sub Inpsector Jumman Khan was injured here and martyred due to the fire along with private employees; Faizan Ahmed, Inayatullah, Nabeel Ahmed, Saifur Rehman, M. Sultan, Fareed Ullah, Farhan-ul-haq and A.S.I Islam uddin who tried to stop the terrorists. One terrorist tried to enter the CCR where A.S.I M. Sarwar killed him but only to be martyred in the cross fire, stated Commander Iqbal.
He further stated that by this time ASF backup, Rangers and Police personnel present at the airport has reached the scene who cornered the terrorist in the cargo shed and killed the remaining three attackers in the shed. CPL Ghulam Murtaza, CPL M. Azam, CPL Muhammad Hayat, A.S.I Asad Shahnawaz of ASF, Dilmurad of Rangers and Fakhrul Hassan, Fazal Muhammad Zuberi, Zafar ul Hassan, Tanveer Anwar Khan and Syed Muhammad Ilyas of Pakistan International Airlines were martyred in the cross fire here.
Whereas, A.S.I Munawar Khan, Ahmed Jamal Khan, Segeant (Sgt) Akhtar Hussain, Corporal (Corp) Sikandar Ali, Sgt Nasir Ahmed, M. Afzal, M. Yousuf, Ghulam Mustafa, Inspector M. Parvaiz, A.D Shahab Hussain, Corp Abid Hussain and A.G Faheem of ASF along with Zawar Hussain, Akram, M. Imran Constible Nisar Ahmed, Constible Liaqat Ali, Constible Naveed, Ahmed Sher, Khawaj Hassan and Aqeel were injured by the firing.
On the other hand, terrorist at ICG gate had also martyred Sgt Muntazir Shah using a grenade. They also martyred Tariq Masood and Sgt Abdul Malik while advancing towards the Fokker Hanger. One of the terrorist was killed during their advance towards the hanger by the return fire from ASF personnel. Furthermore, security forces cornered the terrorist at the Fokker hanger killing two more terrorists. The remaining two terrorists blew themselves with the help of suicide jackets they were wearing, stated Commander Iqbal.
He reported that rocket launchers, hand grenades, suicide jackets, rifle launcher, Kalashnikovs, ammunition, painkilling injections and water bottles have been found in their belongings.
Intelligence agencies have already taken four people into custody. They are suspected of selling mobile phone SIMs to the terrorists. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
