80m Corruption: NAB files reference against PTA and NBP high-ups | PakistanTribeISLAMABAD – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed reference against Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) former director general and National Bank of Pakistan’s former officer on Thursday, PakistanTribe.com reported.

Media department of NAB also confirmed the information and said the reference has been filed against Imran Ahmed Zubairi S/o Sultan Ahmed Zubairi, Ex-DG (Finance) Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Islamabad and Muhammad Riaz S/o Muhammad Din, Ex-Manager NBP, Blue Area Branch, Islamabad.

“NAB Rawalpindi had filed a reference dated 12th February 2010 before Accountability Court No. 1, Rawalpindi/ Islamabad” the accountability bureau informed.

The accused Imran Ahmed Zubairi, in cahoot with accused Muhammad Riaz, opened a fake bank account where he channelized Government Revenues for subsequent embezzling the same, thereby, defrauding and causing loss of Rs. 80.174569 million to the national Exchequer, committing offences of corruption and corrupt practices u/s 9 punishable u/s 10 of NAO1999.

The accused Imran Ahmed Zubairi has been convicted today by Honorable Judge Accountability Court No. 1, Islamabad for a term of 7 years Rigorous Imprisonment and a fine of Rs.70 million.
