RAWALPINDI – The highest ranking commanders of Pakistan Army have been told that militant elements including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) would be crushed at every cost.
The views were expressed on Wednesday at General Headquarters (GHQ) when Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif addressed the Formation Commanders.
General Sharif told the Pakistan Army’s top commanders that sacrifice and martyrdom of all soldiers would never be let go in vain.
During the high-command meeting situation on Pak-Afghan border, military operation in North Waziristan and Tirah valley, national security as well as professional matters also come under discussion.
The meeting comes when Taliban-claimed attacks on Karachi airport raise questions about the authorities’ ability to secure key facilities in the face of a resurgent enemy.
In apparent retaliation, military launched airstrikes in Khyber Agency, killing 25 suspected terrorist and destroying nine “terrorist hideouts” on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also while presiding over a meeting of national security committee in Islamabad, directed security agencies to heighten security at key state installations.
