ISLAMABAD – Credible sources have confirmed that Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan called on former spy of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Major (rtd) Amir in the wake of Karachi Airport Siege get him active again.
The former spy had left the negotiation process back in April but Ch Nisar once again urged him to come back on track, sources confirm on Tuesday.
“Interior Minister met Major Amir after the attacks and discussed the security situation. He urged him to once again play his part in negotiating the terms with outlawed militants,” source confirmed.
Major (rtd) Amir left the negotiation committee in April citing that that ‘some’ elements in negotiation process are doing political point scoring and not sincere for bringing the peace.
Some security analysts and journalists believe that former spy holds strong connections in the lines of outlawed militants for his role in Afghan War during 1980s.
