Appointment on Merit? Former cop to head media regulatory body

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s latest move has leave many in shock as it appointed a former police officer the head of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).

According to the details, the former Chief City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Pervez Rathore was appointed as the head of country’s media regulatory body by federal government.

Rathore will perform the duties as the acting Chairman of PEMRA, until a full-time Chairman is not appointed.

Further details revealed that Rathore was appointed as member PEMRA, while he was also a part of the three-member committee, which could exercise the powers of Chairman PEMRA.
