Clerks demand salary hike from PML-N but receive bullets in return

ISLAMABAD – The government servants of lower cadres gathered in federal capital to demand better salaries from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lead government but received rubber bullets and baton charge in return.

According to the details gathered by correspondents, the at least 150 clerks from different departments of federal government gathered near Red Zones and raised slogans for increasing their salaries.

However, the Islamabad Police under orders of not allowing any protesters to enter the red zone area, initially baton charge the protesters. Following the baton charge the protesters disappear for sometime. But when clerks gathered again near red zone, that time police fired rubber bullets at clerks.

Police official said that they had to take some measures to stop the protesters from entering the red zone.

Correspondent reports also confirmed that some of the protesters carried stones and pelted at police in rage. At least 16 protesters were injured in clash with police.

Police also detained several protesting employees during the demonstration.
