ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his party leaders join heads to lay down a strategy to provide legal-moral assistance for Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) supremo Altaf Hussain in London.
According to the sources privy to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), a high level meeting was called on Wednesday in Islamabad to discuss the matter.
Earlier today, the leader of MQM Dr Farooq Sattar had demanded from the PML-N government to seek guarantee from its counterpart in UK that Altaf Hussain would not be teased or annoyed unnecessarily.
PML-N’s Federal Minister for Interior Chauhdhry Nisar Ali Khan and Senator Raja Zafrul Haq were present in the meeting chaired by Nawaz Sharif.
Moreover, a panel of lawyers has been constituted in London to file bail petition of Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain who was detained on Tuesday under money laundering charges.
Its pertinent to mention here that yesterday, Pakistani High Commission in London refused to provide any assistance to Altaf Hussain citing that he was a British citizen. But after Nawaz Sharif’s decision the situation could be entirely different.
