KARACHI – Altaf Bhai’s most staunch and opponent number one, Afaq Ahmed, received a hart attack after which he was taken into Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a private hospital.
According to the preliminary reports, the supremo of Muhajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) Afaq Ahmed received the heart attack on Monday after noon and immediately shifted to the hospital.
The party sources, however, maintained that Afaq’s condition was out of danger. Besides this brief statement, no other details were provided to media. But it was also learn from some sources that Afaq Ahmed was scheduled to leave for Dubai on this date.
Arrested in 2004, Ahmed Ahmed was booked in over a dozen criminal cases, including murder and kidnapping for ransom.
He and his party denied charges and always alleged that the cases were instituted at the behest of the MQM that is in power both at the centre and in Sindh since 2002.
Since then, police and Rangers have made elaborate arrangements for the security of the MQM-Haqiqi leader who now travels in a police armoured personnel carrier (APC) from one place to another.
In 2011, Afaq AHmed moved to DHA, the party leaders said, has nothing to do with shifting of the party headquarters from the city’s eastern district to the southern one.
