Amid hours long outages, PML-N lays down 1320MW power plant


SAHIWAL – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif laid foundation stone of two coal power plants at Qadirabad, Punjab which would be fully functional till 2016 to generate 1320 MW of electricity.

Nawaz Sharif was accompanying Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Water and Pwer Khawaja Asif and Sate Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali on Friday while laying the foundation stone.

According to the details two power plants would be constructed with 660 MW electricity generating capacity. The project, run by a consortium of Chinese companies.

Moreover, Nawaz Sharif and CM Punjab Shahbaz Shahbaz Sharif would also formally inaugurate Nandipur Power Plant in Gujranwala on Saturday. The plant has started electricity production of 100 MW which has been added to the national grid. The power project, with the capacity of 425 MW, was initiated seven months ago.
