KARACHI: Government of Sindh withdrew advertisement for 3 key posts in 20 universities all over Sindh after teachers protest under the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) banner. The advertisement called in applications for Registrar, Controller Exams and Finance director 20 public sector universities of Sindh.

Earlier today FAPUASA held a meeting in University of Karachi chaired by President FAPUASA Dr. Waheed Chaudhry. During the meeting he said that the teachers stand united across Pakistan. He said that we have to keep politics out of our universities and will not let anyone conspire against us.

During the meeting President FAPUASA (Sindh) Usman Ali stated that Government of Sindh despite various promises to amend 2013 resolution announced the 3 key posts through an advertisement which is a breach of trust. Whereas, President Association of Teachers University of Karachi Dr. Jamil Kazmi stated that if we don’t deal with this problem today it would soon become an epidemic across Pakistan.

FAPUASA has also demand that an amendment shall be moved and approved in Sindh Assembly voiding the 2013 resolution that instated hiring authority in Chief Minister Secretariat. However, teachers representing University of Karachi refused the dialogue terms between Sindh Government and FAPUASA. Therefore, on one hand FAPUASA announced that academic activity would resume in all universities from Friday 30th May and on the, University of Karachi remains closed.
