Pakistan Army refuses Reuters reports of ‘imposing’ offensive on PML-N govt

RAWALPINDI – The spokesperson of Pakistan Army has denied a story published by international news agency Reuters and then toed by many print and online media outlets claiming that ongoing North Waziristan offensive was in fact ‘imposed’ on civilian government.

According to the statement issued by Pakistan Army’s representatives on Saturday, the institute denied all such rumors which point out anywhere else other than consensus decision to lodge airstrikes and ground operation against outlawed militants.

Military says that air strikes were carried out in North Waziristan tribal region with the approval of civilian government.

The statement also clarified that those killed in the raids were terroristsĀ  who were involved in various acts of terrorism in FATA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Karachi.

PakistanTribe had already reported that the operation in North Waziristan was approved by the National Security Council on May 20.
