PML-N appointed lawyers creating delay in high treason trial of Musharraf


ISLAMABAD РThe Special Court has lashed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) appointed prosecutor for unnecessarily delaying the high treason case against former President General (rtd) Pervez Musharraf and ordered to complete all documents by June 3.

According to the court correspondent of PakistanTribe, the PML-N appointed prosecutor Akram Sheikh, Friday, failed to give the court complete documents with the statements of all witnesses mentioned in the list.

The Special Court headed by Justice Faisal Arab had ordered him to provide the complete list which he could not fulfill. Thus the court adjourn the hearing until June 3, 2014 and said Justice Arab said that delay in the case was due to prosecutor side.

Earlier, rn the hearing, prosecutor Akram Shaikh pleaded the court to give them time to abide by the court orders. He informed the court that a letter has been sent to the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) to provide the statements of witnesses and documents.

In another court, Anti-terrorism Court (ATC)’s Judge Ateeq-ur-Rehman heard the Judges Detention Case in Islamabad. Musharraf failed to appear in the hearing today despite the orders of the court.

The judge expressed anger and asked that why the accused did not come to the court on which defence lawyer said that his client was absent in the hearing as he is ill.

A petition was filed pleading the court to grant permanent exemption from the hearings due to his illness and security reasons.
