SHANGHAI – After the successful services of Metro Bus, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led provincial government has all set to launch the Metro Train for Lahoris with the help of China.
According to international media reports, a vital agreement was reached in Shanghai on Thursday between the representatives of Punjab government and a Chinese firm.
The reports confirmed that the service would be called as ‘Lahore Orange Line Metro Train’ and going to have a track of 27 kilometers.
According to the preliminary estimates, the project cost would be around $ 1.60 billion. The project would be completed within 27 months when initiated.
Its pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Railways had already bought locomotives from China to revive the deteriorating condition of the department. However, it was not clear as yet whether Pakistan Railway would have any stake in this project or not.
The official statement from the government of Punjab is awaited.
