LAHORE – The reinstated boss of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf has taken the charge and with that all decisions and appointed made by former chairman Najam Sethi became null and void.
Zaka Ashraf held a press conference in Lahore on Monday after taking charge of the office. This day, Islamabad High Court (IHC) also issued to the complete verdict of the case comprised of 28 pages.
In the verdict the IHC categorically mentioned that appointment of Najam Sethi was illegitimate and based on dishonesty. It also overturned all the decisions taken by Najam Sethi while in charge.
Zaka Ashraf, speaking to the journalists, said “Najam Sethi’s good news would be taken care of if he tell us the details.”
The IHC ruling on May 17 declared invalid the notification issued on February 10 after the prime minister appointed the interim committee to run the affairs of the board.
The court ruling has also disqualified Najam Sethi as chief of the cricket board.
Ashraf was previously unseated as PCB chairman by a court order in May last year after doubts over his election kicked off a series of legal challenges that critics say has damaged the sport in Pakistan.
