You won’t believe what doctors wrapped her in to keep her warm.
Pixie was just 28 weeks old when she came into the world and weighed 1.1 pounds. She was ushered into the neonatal care and taken care of very sensitively.
She got unexpectedly delivered through the c-section, leaving no time for the doctors to gather stuff to put her in. So she was wrapped in a hat and a transparent sandwich bag.
According to Sharon Grant, Pixie’s mother, it might have been all the operation theater had that time. “It was amazing that she survived, but it was truly traumatic,” Sharon said, reflecting the three long months her daughter survived in the incubation center. “She kept being sick when they gave her milk and every time she was handled she would lose weight.”
Pixie is now five month old, and weighs 7.5 pounds, this being a miracle for her. “When we went in the front door Pixie came alive. She was looking all over the place and could see what was happening,” Sharon said.
She also said that it was fabulous to have her daughter at home as numerous people awaited to see her and cuddle her.
