LAHORE – The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q)’s leadership agreed to support Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for its pursuit of seeking electoral reforms in Pakistan.
PTI’s delegation comprised on Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jehangir Khan Tareen met the PML-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi on Wednesday.
President of PML-Q Ch Shjuaat Hussain maintained that his party also hold reservation over role of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) during general election of 2013.
“The elections were rigged,” he reiterated. “For the first time in Pakistan, those who won the elections termed it as rigged,” he added.
Speaking to media representatives after the meeting Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that we thanked Ch Shujaat for his support to Imran Khan’s cause.
Replying to a question, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi said “Its a point to ponder that if elections were free and fair then why former Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin Jee Ibrahim resigned?”
The former ruling party, PML-Q, jumped in to support Imran Khan on May 9 at the time when PTI’s coalition partner in KPK Jamat-e-Islami (JI) backed off from supporting the D-Chowk rally.
Later, the amir (chief) of JI Sirajul Haq categorically turned down any possibility of joining any anit-democratic alliance.
