Pakistan ready to bring back millions of dollars from Swiss Banks

Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD – The Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has revealed that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led government was seriously considering to bring back illegally transferred money from Swiss Banks.

Ishaq Dar submitted a written reply in National Assembly on Friday in which he informed about the proceedings in this regard.

Dar maintained that now according to new rules, Switzerland could exchange the information about the illegal accounts with other countries.

However, he said “The tax agreement between Pakistan an Switzerland was not good enough. It was sent back to the federal cabinet for necessary amendments.”

The reply also stated that an estimated amount of $ 200 million was present in Swiss banks that belonged to Pakistan.

It is pertinent to mention here that on March 27, PakistanTribe reported that PML-N led federal government had finally decided to lock horns with former President as Asif Ali Zardari wanted to claim back the custody of his late wife’s jewelry.

Federal Law Secretary Barrister Zafarullah Khan admitted that a law firm of Switzerland, once hired for representing government of Pakistan in Switzerland, had contacted to inform about the move made by Zardari.

“We will contest the claim of and oppose the handover of the jewelry to him. The Swiss authorities would be requested to hand over the jewelry or any other valuables in their possession to the Pakistan government,” he said while talking to the correspondent.
