ISLAMABAD – The legal team of former President General (rtd) Pervez Musharraf has achieved first milestone as the Special Court ordered the prosecution to provide FIA investigation report for the defence.
On Thursday, the Special Court resumed the hearing of high treason trial against Musharraf in which the reserved judgement was announced on Federal Investigation Authority (FIA)’s report.
The court, headed by Justice Faisal Arab, asked the prosecution to provide all evidences and what previously was a ‘secret’ report to defence side. ‘It is the legal duty of prosecution to provide all evidence and investigation report to the defence,’ court maintained in its judgement.
PakistanTribe reported on April 25 that Special Court would order prosecution to provide the investigation report to defence which then might help Musharraf’s legal team to prepare a strong defence.
Investigation report of FIA was the basis of high treason trial against Pervez Musharraf and not handing over it to the defence had created a lot of confusions regarding the findings of the report.
The defence lawyer, once earlier this month, maintained before the special court that at least one investigation officer involved in preparing the report had added an objection note.
Upon which the prosecutor Sheikh Akram said that the officer who added the objection note was in the list of witnesses. He said that FIA officer would appear before the court along with his own report.
