‘Karakorum’ tumbled in Benazirabad killed one, twenty injured

KARACHI – Pakistan Railways’ passenger train Karakorum Express derailed near Benazirabad (Nawab Shah) that resulted in death of one woman while twenty others received injuries.

According to Pakistan Railways officials, the Karachi bound train was coming from Lahore when on Wednesday morning met an accident and at least five coaches including the engine came down from the track.

Officials also confirmed that the accident occurred near Bandhi area of Nawazshah.

Later, the police authorities and rescue workers rushed to the crash site and shifted the injured to nearby Peoples Medical College Hospital.

Hospital sources confirmed that six out of twenty injured were in a critical state.

According to the Rescue sources, the bogies are being cut off to take out the injured people. The relief activities are currently underway around the rail track.
