Inequality in electricity tariff as government pays no tax on bills


ISLAMABAD – The documented proofs gathered by one media house revealed that offices of federal government have been exempted from all kind of taxes and extra surcharges as compared to common consumers of electricity.

The documents revealed that on the electricity bills of official residents and offices of higher ups were exempted from Fuel Price Adjustment, Electricity Tax, Neelum-Jehlum Surcharge and Television Fee.

Duya News, which claimed to have acquired the copies of electricity bills of Prime Minister House, Prime Minister Secretariat, President House, President Secretariat, National Assembly and other important offices on Constitutional Avenue, maintains that government practically did not pay any kind of tax on electricity.

Moreover, it was also claimed that electricity tariff of all government buildings was of a common domestic consumer.

It is pertinent to mention here that for past few week, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) state minister for power and water Abid Sher Ali had been active against the government institutes who was supposed to pay million of rupees in outstanding dues.
