Iftikhar Chaudhry refuses to respond over Imran Khan’s useless statement

Iftikhar Imran

ISLAMABAD – The former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and new hot target of Imran Khan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry termed allegations leveled against him as useless.

According to one report published by the country’s largest media group, former CJP denied any role in election process as it was the sole duty of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Rejecting the allegation by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Inaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, Chaudhry said “I do not want to respond to the useless statements being made.”

He also said “It was the responsibility of the ECP to appoint Returning Officers (ROs). Importance of the judiciary and defence institutions are equally important and hearsay of a clash between them should not happen.”

He also maintained that foundation of democracy in Pakistan was strong it faced no threat.

It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Khan, once hardliner supporter of independent judiciary under Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, accused former CJP to be involved in election rigging in May 2013.
