PML-N govt wants Musharraf to knock at supreme court for lifting travel ban

Musharraf Trial

KARACHI – The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led federal government has maintained in Sindh High Court (SHC) that only Supreme Court of Pakistan can allow former President General (rtd) Pervez Musharraf to travel abroad.

According to the court correspondent, PML-N leg federal government submitted a detailed reply in SHC on Monday explaining its stance over Musharraf’s plea to remove his name from Exit Control List (ECL).

The reply read as “It was on the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan that Musharraf’s name was included in ECL. Only Supreme Court can now allow government to remove his name from the list.”

The government legal aides also maintained that Musharraf was facing at least four high profile cases including High Treason Case, Judges Detention Case, Cleric Murder Case and Akbar Khan Bugti Murder Case. Therefore, government maintained, that allowing Musharraf to travel abroad could be a risk.

Government is ready to provide all facilities in Pakistan to Musharraf if he was ill and facing any medical issues.

Earlier in April, the legal aides of Musharraf moved SHC to allow Musharraf to travel abroad.
