PML-N govt to launch country’s largest hydro-power project in Dasu

Abid Sher Ali

ISLAMABAD – The State Minister of Water and Power Abid Sher Ali has claimed to soon initiate the largest hydro-power project of Pakistan’s history in Dasu which would generate 4500 MW electricity in next three years.

The leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was addressing a press conference along with officers of his ministry in Islamabad on Monday.

Abid was facing a privilege motion in National Assembly from opposition parties for being ‘abusively vocal’ against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and and Sindh provinces in terms of electricity theft.

For at least past two months, Abid Sher Ali was actively visiting whole country and holding press conferences highlighting the electricity theft in KPK, Punjab and Sindh.

Abid, while defending his actions, said in his press conference “PML-N led federal government is inaugurating people friendly projects to fix menace of loadshedding. We will be including additional 2400 MW electricity in national grid till the end of this year. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be inaugurating many power projects in coming months that include projects in Kohala, Nandipur, Dasu and Port Qasim.”

He went further and said that previous governments had only received kick back and commissions in the name of power projects.

He also vowed to eliminate corruption from all Distributions Companies (DISCOs).
