LAHORE – Another Pop Music icon and Pakistani singer Jawad Ahmed announced to jump into political arena with his own political party.
The singer-turn-social worker addressed a labour convention on Thursday in Lahore.
Jawad Ahmed also revealed the name of his party in the address. “The name of my political part would be Barabri.” Barabri means equality in English.
He said “We want to bring equality in the country’s prevailing system.”
Before Jawad Ahmed, at least two more pop singer has declared their political inclination with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Salman Ahmed (lead guitarist and singer of Junoon Band) and Abrarul Haq (pop and Punjabi Bhangra artist) have joined the politics under the umbrella of PTI before 2013 polls.
However, Jawad Ahmed went one step ahead and formed his own political party. Previously he was leading his own minor fraction of labour party with the name International Youth and Workers Movement (IYWM).
