KARACHI – The youngster of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khurram Sher Zaman’s act of chewing gum and wearing has started an interesting debate in Sindh Assembly when other candidates started criticizing him.
Khurram was wearing white dress shirt and faded jeans on Wednesday when he started chewing gum in Sindh Assembly’s hall.
Khurram’s act could not remain hidden from the eyes of Sohrab Khan Sarki, leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), who stated “This is not a PTI procession where one would wear jeans and chew gum. I am pointing towards Khurram Sher Zaman.”
Upon this the deputy speaker of Sindh Aseembly, Shehla Raza, said that one must not name any political party in this context. “We should not name any party for this. However, the act is not an admirable one. Administration has placed water bottles outside the hall and eating and drinking inside and during the session is not allowed as per the rules. But sometimes the discussion in the session bring sleep to the members who then have to keep something in mouth to stay awake.”
One other leader of PPP, Nisar Khoro, stated that if Khurram Sher Zaman can eat chewing gum and other female members of the assembly can pass on sipari to each other then we should also allow to eat and drink.
Khurram Sher Zaman stood up on his seat and tried to speak but deputy speaker never switched on his mic. So he only rely on smiling.
Khurram Sher Zaman is the PTI’s representative in Sindh Assembly from PS-112. Four days ago, the assembly adopted his resolution against Geo TV that stated “This assembly condemns Geo News’ objectionable statements, which defamed the ISI. The ISI is our esteemed institution in which we take pride.”
