PML-N minister suggests his own version of ‘Long March’ in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – The Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has suggested his own version of Long March in Pakistan stating that development can only be made possible in an environment of peace.

Ahsan Iqbal, the leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), said on Monday that it was not a right time to do Long March.

Iqbal was clearly indicating towards the possible agitation-would-be by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) against the alleged rigging in May 2013 polls.

Iqbal said “In next two years, government in planning to allocate 2 per cent of total fiscal year’s budget for education. However, everyone must be clear in this regard that development is directly linked with peace. The only march should be done at this time is ‘Economic March’ and not the Long March.”
