Local journalist attack Shahbaz Sharfi to avenge Hamid Mir

Shahbaz Shoe Attack

WEB DESK – A journalist of regional language television channel identified as Imdad Ali hurdled show at the Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to avenge the alleged murder attempt on the life of Geo News  anchorperson Hamid Mir.

Imdad Ali hurled the shoe on Thursday during the opening ceremony of South Asia Labour Conference in Lahore.

Though the shoe hurled at Shahbaz missed its target but the journalist started raising slogans and waved a hand written poster in the favor of Hamid Mir. The shoe landed near the stage instead where the CM was sitting.

Shahbaz Sharif never took the incident very seriously and let the journalist cry at his full voice. Shahbaz kept calm and remained seated during the ceremony.

However, it was only after Shahbaz Sharif’s departure from the conference hall and Punjab police officials started manhandling the Imdad Ali.

The show hurler was dragged outside and pushed inside the police van. However, soon Shahbaz Sharif ordered Punjab police to immediately release the journalist.

After his release, Imdad Ali told the media “My conscious came alive and I realized that if senior journalists like Hamid Mir are not safe then what are journalists like me doing here….?”
