Supreme Court barred ASWJ leader to take oath of National Assembly

PAKISTAN-UNREST-VOTE-SECTARIAN

ISLAMABAD – The three member bench of Supreme Court of Pakistan has over turned the order of Election Tribunal according to which Ahle-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ)’s Ahmed Ludhiyanvi was notified the Member of National Assembly (MNA) from NA-89 Jhang.

According to the court correspondents, the bench headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali overturned the tribunal decision on disqualified MNA of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Sheikh Akram’s application.

The bench also dispatched notice to Ludhiyanvi. The matter will now be decided in the apex court.

PakstanTribe reported on April 10 that  the leader of ASWJ Maulana Mohammad Ahmed Ludhianvi, who once held in custody by federal government after Rawalpindi sectarian brawl to cool down the tensions, was declared the lawmaker of National Assembly from Jhang.

The election tribunal disqualified Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s Sheikh Akram from the constituency in the last year’s elections on the charges of bogus voting and bank loan default.
