According to the reports, the woman walked up to the man, who already had the noose around his neck, so she could kick the scaffold chair from under his feet.
But instead of killing the man, named Balal, the woman slapped him in the face and instructed that he be saved.
She then removed the rope — as the convict’s own mother ran over and gave her a hug.
Abdolghani Hosseinzadeh, the victim’s father, said his wife changed her mind about the execution after their son, Abdollah Hosseinzadeh Jr., appeared to her in a dream.
“Three days ago, my wife saw my elder son in a dream telling her that they are in a good place and for her not to retaliate,” The Guardian reports him as saying.
“This calmed my wife and we decided to think more until the day of the execution,” he added.
