WEB DESK – The hardliner Syed Faisal Raza Abidi had stirred the power corridors of Islamabad when he revealed his plan to make a fiery speech on the Senate’s floor for one last time before resigning as a legislator.
Abidi was speaking with media outside the Senate on Thursday when he made first official statement regarding his resignation from the Senate on the directives of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Abidi also said that today he would tell everything openly for one last time before leaving the politics for forever.
Yesterday, the secretary general of PPP Raja Pervez Ashraf, on the direction of party leadership, finally asked the angry and once diehard Jiyala ‘Syed Faisal Raza Abidi’ to resign from his Senate’s membership.
According to the sources privy to party, the resignation was demanded on Wednesday.
Senator Faisal Raza Abidi came closer to the Co-Chairman of PPP, Asif Ali Zardari, after the death of Benazir Bhutto. Initially he was made the president of PPP for its Karachi’s chapter. Later, he was selected as the Senator on PPP’s ticket. Abidi was also the member of PPP’s central executive committee.
The hardliner was famous of his aggressive stances and defence of PPP’s policies in talkshows.
Faisal grew differences with PPP in the year 2012 when despite party warnings, he continued lashing the then ChiefJustice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry for creating hindrances in governing issues.
Later, PPP sidelined the Abidi which followed by his resignation from the basic membership of the party. However, he never resigned from the membership of the Senate.
Senator Faisal Raza Abidi, when approached, did not respond for the brief comment over the news.
