WEB DESK – The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NayaTel has lashed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s led federal government to demonstrate greediness in auction of 3G and 4G band licences.
Wahaj, in an interview, maintained that federal government’s only focus was to gather maximum hard cash by selling the broad bands in Pakistan and they never consider the opportunities these services could create for the masses.
Wahaj said that the only reason of delaying the auction for 3G and 4G licences were that government wanted to make sure that bids would mount maximum price. However, he maintained, the existing TelCos were already bearing unjustified 40 per cent taxes so they avoided giving high bidding.
The CEO of the finest internet service provider also revealed that after discouraging feedback from the existing TelCos, government wanted to invite any new international telecommunication company to start its services in Pakistan.
It was never possible for any new company to start and install its infrastructure from ground zero where five TelCos already exited, he added.
Wahaj went ahead and said that government’s sole focus was to earn one-time hard cash from selling the band width and it miserably failed to see the brighter side that how much investment the existing companies will be making to upgrade their networks, and what brilliant opportunities 3G services would create for the masses of Pakistan.
When asked, Wahaj said that 4G handsets are very costly in Pakistan so that was the strongest reason only one existing company showed interest in purchasing the 4G bandwidth. However, he maintained, that with the passage of time 4G handsets would also become as cheap as 3G handsets.
